My Super Bowl Predictions Are Remarkably Accurate! By Alec Frazier and Autistic Reality

Adorable Dogs Squaring Off During the Puppy Bowl!

First off, let me say that I absolutely hate football. To me, it is an excuse for the masses to celebrate brutal violence and senseless commercialism. In addition, as someone who has a traumatic brain injury, I absolutely hate the fact that people are cheering on the process of getting these injuries, which often prove fatal.

Nonetheless, from 1994 to 2004 I lived in Colorado, where there was not much going on, so people put all their stock in football. As a result, I started betting to myself on which team would win. My bets were based not on team statistics or anything remotely proven, but rather on which team’s home town I had the most personal affinity for. Here are my bets and results so far:
  • For Super Bowl XXXII on January 25, 1998, the Denver Broncos played the Green Bay Packers. I called it for Denver, because I lived in Colorado at the time. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl XXXIII on January 31, 1999, the Denver Broncos played the Atlanta Falcons. I called it for Denver, because I lived in Colorado at the time. I was correct
  • For Super Bowl XXXIV on January 30, 2000, the St. Louis Rams played the Tennessee Titans. I called it for St. Louis, as a great portion of my family is from there, and I had also fallen in love with the original Warren Beatty version of the film Heaven Can Wait, which heavily features that team, although they were in Los Angeles when the film was made. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl XXXV on January 28, 2001, the Baltimore Ravens played the New York Giants. I called it for Baltimore, as at that time, I had a lot more affinity for the culture and history that area, especially since Washington, DC architecture and planning has always fascinated me. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl XXXVI on February 3, 2002, the New England Patriots played the St. Louis Rams. I called it for New England, as I was born in Boston, and lived the first several years of my life there. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl XXXVII on January 26, 2003, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played the Oakland Raiders. I called it for Tampa Bay, as I had traveled to and greatly enjoyed that city and much of the rest of Florida. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl XXXVIII on February 1, 2004, the New England Patriots played the Carolina Panthers. I called it for New England, as I was born in Boston, and lived the first several years of my life there. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl XXXIX on February 6, 2005, the New England Patriots played the Philadelphia Eagles. I called it for New England, as I was born in Boston, and lived the first several years of my life there. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl XL on February 5, 2006, the Pittsburgh Steelers played the Seattle Seahawks. I called it for Seattle, since I had traveled there and enjoyed it profusely. I was wrong.
  • For Super Bowl XLI on February 4, 2007, the Indianapolis Colts played the Chicago Bears. I called it for Chicago, as I had traveled there and enjoyed it profusely. I was wrong.

  • For Super Bowl XLIV on February 7, 2010, the New Orleans Saints played the Indianapolis Colts. I called it for New Orleans, as I had traveled there and enjoyed it profusely. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 2011 the Green Bay Packers played the Pittsburgh Steelers. I called it for Pittsburgh as I have enjoyed many trips to Pennsylvania, but have never been to Wisconsin. I was wrong.
  • For Super Bowl XLVI on February 5, 2012, the New York Giants played the New England Patriots. I called it for New York, as that was where he was living at the time. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, 2013, the Baltimore Ravens played the San Francisco 49ers. I called it for Baltimore, as at that time, I had a lot more affinity for the culture and history that area, especially since Washington, DC architecture and planning has always fascinated me, and also because I had done formative disability rights work in Baltimore the previous year. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2, 2014, the Seattle Seahawks played the Denver Broncos. I called it for the Denver Broncos, as I had lived there for ten years. I was wrong.
  • For Super Bowl XLIX on February 1, 2015, the New England Patriots played the Seattle Seahawks. I called it for New England, as I was born in Boston, and lived the first several years of my life there. I was correct.

  • For Super Bowl LI on February 5, 2017, the New England Patriots played the Atlanta Falcons. I called it for New England, as I was born in Boston, and lived the first several years of my life there. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl LII on February 4, 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles played the New England Patriots. I called it for New England, as I was born in Boston, and lived the first several years of my life there. I was wrong.
  • For Super Bowl LIII on February 3, 2019, the New England Patriots played the Los Angeles Rams. I called it for New England, as I was born in Boston, and lived the first several years of my life there. I was correct.
  • For Super Bowl LIV on February 2, 2020, the Kansas City Chiefs played the San Francisco 49ers. I called it for San Francisco, as I have traveled there and enjoyed it profusely. I was wrong.
So what are my odds? I have gotten 17/23 correct, meaning that I have been accurate 74% of the time. These are pretty amazing statistics, given the fact that I really hate football, and base my predictions on personal preference rather than athletic statistics.
